Namely, I must confess I had neved even heard of people balancing eggs.
It was quite a shock to find out that not only they do, but they gather in large groups, and even get televised in the process!
The Scientific explanation is purrfect and tactfully placed.
Still, it is kind of nice to believe in the certain magic of special ocasions... Rational evidence contrary of common belief and colorfull traditions will always be safely ignored. smiley - winkeye
Keep up the good work, great review!

Thanks, Cymoril! smiley - biggrin My mum used to call me up on the Vernal Equinox and say, 'Are you balancing your egg today? Go do it!'

...Erm, 'Cymoril' wouldn't happen to be a name out of the Elric books, would it? smiley - winkeye

LOL. You've caught me.
Cymoril is most definetively taken from the Elric saga. (yup, i'm an all time fantasy luver) smiley - smiley

As far as equinoxes go...
Well, we *do* know they happen and all, and those of us with an interest in Earth Science, Astronomy and such, tend to find it interesting and do a lot of reading on the subject...
But as far as traditions go, the passing of the four seasons kind of slips under the table in these latitudes. You see, being close to the Ecuator, the climate is harly affected by them. The lenghts of day and night are pretty much constant all year round, and we only get to heil wet and dry seasons with nothing much in-between. smiley - tongueout
Even so, pre-columbian civilizations over here had pretty much worked-out the tic-tocs of the Solar System and there are any number of celebrations, rites, and displays of rather impossible costumes. (smiley - bubbly Anything is a good excuse for a party, it seems smiley - winkeye)
Anyway, you've aroused my curiosity... I think I'll do some researching, maybe some folks over here had funny thoughts about gravity of these ocasions too. smiley - run
