I have been looking for a conversation like this for ages
The big problem with bringing it back is, you would need to have the guts to make a whole series in a go. As the Completely Useless Encyclopedia points out, no fan has ever liked a current episode. You have to wait a good few years before Who becomes classic. Anywho, the BBC are making another one off Radio show, this time with Sylvester McCoy. Interestingly, they are calling it a pilot. Hmmm. And it will have Stephen Fry, as some passing bod or something. I actually reckon radio might be the best thing for it. The sfx and sets are as good as you want and the Big Finish CDs are not bad at all.
Anywho, info on radio show at http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/radio/index.shtml

No, but I walked past her on Charing Cross Road last summer. Still brings out those naughty thoughts.

ANd that was meant to be a reply regarding photos of Ace, but it didn't end up where I had planned. Ironically Tardis-esque, conisdering the forum......

Ali my dear! How are you?
I'm afraid I've let my duties slip recently - had a few emotional distractions. Had I been keeping a watchful eye, England would be parading the Euro 2000 trophy and be planning for the 2006 World Cup here in Blighty. I just feel very sorry for the Germans - I mean, it's an excuse to declare war........

It was sadly a fact that the earlier assistants, no matter how intelligent (Zoe and Liz Shaw) would still resort to screaming. That was the destinct improvement, in my mind, with Ace.
Also, you can't really claim that there were more "Shooty" stories at the end, UNIT were not exactly pacifists now were they.
Of course, the Silurian stories were quite pacifist, so maybe.
