A Conversation for Canada Geese
Flying North in Winter
dreymers Started conversation Nov 30, 1999
I just got back from vacation with my folks in NY state and saw many flocks of geese flying North for the winter. An extraordinary sight - I always thought they flew south! I asked an expert, who said that they often fly to another area to find food, and (as your article states) will stay around the region until it's hard to find food, when they will migrate on their longer journey to the Southern regions.

Hi. Thanks for your comments.
A lot of 'city geese' never do leave. After last January's blizzard there were flocks of hundreds, if not thousands, congregated on the first turf to be swept clear by the wind in Lake Ontario waterfront parks.
