ok, it sounds disgusting and I´ve only tried it once...but it was strangely quite good! This is an australian invention which my boyfriend of the time discovered whilst watching an episode of Billy Connelly touring Australia. What you do is cook one cheap meat pie, and heat up a tin of soup (thick soup is better apparently). Put the pie in a bowl, pour over the soup and eat.
Actually it´s really not as bad as it sounds, and good for warming up on cold winter days...Unsurprisingly I left that boyfriend, and am now with someone who opts for quality rather than quantity....not a commodity most students are allowed unfortunately!

the thing about Pie Floaters is that the soup must be of the Mushy Pea variety
