I frequently use a standard sized trash bag as a camera cover for a commercial hand-held video camera. The open end faces front and pointed *down* slightly so the lens controls are accessable but the lens itself is still covered. Very handy here in a rainforest.
I have several boxes in the production van for that use and to serve as emergency rain hoods for video monitors and ill-dressed talent.
