Didn't you miss getting sucked up by a black hole that strays to close?
Another good theroy for ice age (that I found interesting in a Clive custler book) is a tunnel drilled through south America to divert the gulf stream via giant water pumps, there by dropping sea temperatures around europe by a coulpe of degrees. Not sure if it would work, nice theroy thought.

Hi Adib,
What's a balck hole?
Yes, I left it out. Not sure why - I think I decided that GRB's were far more interesting, but you are right, it is an omission. I actually have David Brin's execrable book "Earth" here that talks about the impact of a primeval black hole with planet Earth.
Oh well, that's what these forum postings are all about - lending material for the next update in a few years time!
Thanks for the book reference - that's an interesting one!
