Another good book about nuclear war is 'A Canticle for Leibowitz' which begins some centuries after the Flame Deluge and ends with mankind destroying itself in a 2nd nuclear holocaust.

Thanks BC! It's a far better attempt than my first entry, which was written before Jan 1 2000, and captured, to far too great an extent, the worries about the Millenium Bug at the time!
