A Conversation for Perfectionists, and How to Annoy Them

There's nothing wrong with a bit of perfectionism

Nice entry smiley - biggrin

I found myself agreeing with several of the descriptions smiley - ok, but unless I'm unusual I believe most people are not divided between perfectionists and the rest.

Most people have certain areas of their lives over which they attempt meticulous control, and other areas where they are not bothered. It depends on expectations. Personally I'd accept I am a bit of a slob when it comes to putting things away to leave pristine surfaces; while on the other hand I have been known to correct typos in novels as I read, usually preview a post for typos before posting it, and spend *ages* endeavouring to make data accurate before creating a report based on the data. I also know when I've done a good job, though it is fair to say that I may hold critical views even while outwardly appearing pleased smiley - erm

You are right that a perfectionist would generally prefer to do something right themselves, rather than leave it to someone more lackadaisical. I *have* lost sleep smiley - yawn over report deadlines slipping or being inaccurate, but I don't think I'm going to tip into neurosis smiley - weird.

Perfectionism is similar to religious faith smiley - zen. It can be hard to change others to your point of view smiley - cross, but perfectionism is not apathetic, it will usually incite an evangelical response when questioned.
