Yes, $700 sounds too low for the US. Although you can reduce the cost if you pay for it yourself. I have high deductible insurance so for this level I pay it myself. The doctor does the procedure in his office, which is well equipped for it, and charges me less that if it was in the hospital. I don't think the insurance companies will pay for the procedure outside a hospital.

I got it changed before the sub-editor returned it to the Editors, so the cost is roughly accurate, but I bet every consultant charges a different cost.
