I'm sorry to disappoint, but those are crocheted. Maybe I could translate the patterns and knit a few too.

Just goes to show what I know. 
But I found them on a knitting website. Is it hard to crochet?

Not really. Mind you, I have been doing it for some years now, and I can't really remember how I learnt it. If you'd like to give it a go there's loads of instruction videos on youtube. And I posted links to the patterns of both the whale and Agrajag on the flickr page.

I might give it a go after Xmas, when I hope to have more time. I'd love to do something creative like that, especially hitchhikers related.
