A Conversation for Tippers

Also, Tippers can be lots of things, a small brush type is great for 'Smoky' sessions, I've seen leather tipped ones for a softer sound, one with bristles on one end and wood on the other, really smart when you double-hit.
Great tippers are to be found at the end of your arms, nice sound if you get it right but painful for 'rim-shots'

For those working on building sites and wanting to save money a small piece of plastic conduit (such as is used for surrounding electric cables tracked into walls) also makes an excellent variation - I've seen this used to great effect by the champion bodhran player Junior Davey (then again I get the distinct impression he could get a tune out of a raw sausage)
