A Conversation for The Prince Charles Cinema, London, UK

I fully agree. Dodging Leicester Square is normally a priority, but the Prince Charles Cinema makes it all worthwhile.

Bargin basement rates that can be as low as £2.50 and 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' on a Saturday afternoon. Not to mention recent releases only a month or two old.

Kudos to the little theatre in the game of corporates. We all know who we prefer.

Totally behind you. I saw 'The Commitments' there about a year after its theatre run was over - glorious.
Everyone these days is so obsessed by video, but for big action movies, or anything which draws you into its own world, the cinema is still way best - and these people are helping make it more affordable.
BTW, am I the only person who actually *prefers* sitting quite close to the screen (in the middle of course, maybe a third of the way back)? All those people who sit at a distance just aren't submerging themselves in the experience.

In modern cinemas, it's difficult to gauge the best seats. In the bigger (which I just mistyped 'boggier' for no doubt freudian reasons) London cinemas, sit in the front row of the royal circle (i.e. the front of the most expensive seats) for two reasons: The screen isn't too large for your field of view, and the sound is calibrated from that position, so you get the best effect from the Dolby Digital.

In cinemas where they don't have a 'circle' I prefer to sit two-thirds of the way back. I do like to be able to see the whole screen at once.

And I *always* sit through the credits.
