Marmite poisoning?

A friend of mine claims that she has been poisoned by eating too much Marmite. She was told by someone at that esteemed medical establishment Holland and Barrett that she needs to go on a two-month detox diet.
I have my doubts about the objectivity of this advice but that's a side issue. Has anyone heard of the overconsumption of yeast being a cause of an allergic reaction? She had itches and swellings on her skin and believes this is due to fermentation of something-or-other in her stomach.
Admittedly she was eating spoonfuls of the stuff every day. This may be in excess of the government's Recommended Daily Amount of Marmite.

I eat it by the spoonful also (especially when drunk ). I wonder if that's what causes my dermatitis...

Sorry to butt in
might suffer from salt overload, but hubby has several spoons everyday in hot water, (and so do I) and has never suffered any side effects
so says a marmite worshipper
lettuce spray (say out loud)

I suppose it's possible, after all women with yearst inflections are advised to lay off the beer, because it makes it worse...

I doubt I eat it in a high enough concentration to worry.
I'm not sure that eating it by the spoonfull every day is going to be all that good for you.

1 spoonful ( 5g) contains only 1/2 daily dietry requirement according to label
so several spoonfuls should be even healthier.......
all hail the dark god/godess

One wonders how the doctors think that we ingest said ?
Much as I love marmite, I can't bear the thought of eating it by the spoonful. Just a wee scrape on the toast does wonders.
a freind of mine worked out that you'd get your dietry requirements on a diet of marmite, bananas and guiness. Wonder what thet would do for yer thrush?

Actually, there was something on the BBC website a few months back from a medical research paper that claimed it is possible to get all your dietary requirements from Guiness alone, but you'd have to drink something like 50 pints a day

Err, an interesting piece of information worthy of an Ignoble, that we could no way condone as a challenge ?

Now all we have to do is find a pub with a decent Guinness tap! Pity hardly any of the pubs in England serve a really good pint of Guinness. No wonder those Irish lads seem so fit and healthy and no wonder they spend so long in the pub! . By the way, it's your round...

One thing that most people aren't aware of is the fact that the Recommended Daily Amount (RDA) is the minimum you need to avoid a deficiency disease (such as Scurvy in relation to Vitamin C). The government recommends 150mg per day of Vit C but you can happily take 3,00mg daily without serious side effects - many athletes do exactly this.
My advice is to pay no attention whatever to RDAs. If you're concerned about toxicity : Vitamin A is probably the most toxic vitamin but in order to overdo it, you have to go at it hammer and tongs for quite a while before any toxic effects are seen, so don't worry about a spoonful of Marmite (yum!).
Having said that, people have sensitivities to many things (including Oxygen!!!) so everybody is going to be different. If you're suffering problems because of yeast consumption (and many people do), then clean it out of your system and restrict or avoid it's usage.
I'm not convinced you shoud detox, but it's been years since I worked for 'that esteemed medical establishment' and current nutritional thinking may have changed.
Now where can I get a decent pint of Guinness in England - or is that another topic?
Cheeaz!
