A Conversation for Marmite
Marmite for Breakfast
Jono Started conversation Oct 14, 1999
At a Northumberland Prep School for boys in the early 1970s Marmite on toast was our favourite breakfast.
It was prepared in bulk, like cheese on toast.
Trays of thick white bread were toasted on one side. The reverse side was tsmeered with butter and Marmite and returned to the oven.
As we drifted into the dining hall (all 115+ of us) we took a chunk of toasted Marmite from a tray in the kitchen.
Crunchy on the base, dripping with butter and spongey in the middle, with a thin coating of Marmite on the top.
