John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

What a tragic tale! I hope there were other goodies to compensate a childhood bereft of nutty goodness.smiley - smiley

Oh yes! I've spent my whole life in the vain search for an alternative.

But as I shall never know what I'm looking for an alternative to, I'm just going to have to keep looking, aren't I?

That's got to be the most pathetic excuse anyone has yet come up with for eating anything sweet in sight (after thoroughly checking the ingredients label of course!)

Self-restraint is highly overrated, if not actually a con to trick us out of our fair share of goodies. As for 'moderation in all things'... Phooey on that I say.smiley - smiley

That really is a tough break, especially for a kid.smiley - sadface

Still, life has a way of compensating people and strange and unforeseen ways... the world's full of plants and animals just waiting for an aspiring gourmet who feels a bit cheated.smiley - winkeye

Oh, the list went on and on... I couldn't begin to remember it all... And the poor thing was only about four... I wasn't very old myself (maybe six or seven), and it was the first time I'd even -heard- of allergies.. I had absolutely none *thankyou!* then.. have since developed one for the tetnus antitoxin smiley - skull, but that's about it, afaik. smiley - biggrin

Oh yes, I remember that time as well, no-body used to believe me. (in fact there is a very distressing tale about a 6 year old me getting force fed a nutty pudding at school dinner - needless to say they believed my after that!)

In some ways I'm very grateful things have changed now, but have you seen the amount of stuff they list a warning on now 'May contain nuts'?? I'd go bleedin' nuts if I kept away from all that stuff. No Mars Bars, no Creme Eggs no anything other than Kinder smiley - choc....if you'd call that smiley - choc.

All this talking smiley - choc is making me peckish.

Fridge Raid!

Surely there must be some nuts to which you're allergic and some to which you may not be?! smiley - erm At least.. that would be my hope! smiley - smiley
