h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Lord Robert Baden-Powell was one of those who took part in the fighting during the 2nd boer war. He went on later to found the boy scouts which a few years later crossed the atlantic and became the B.S.A. (Boy Scouts of America) here in the states. As I understand it a scout helped an american visitor to london find his way around in the dense London fog and when the visitor tried to reward his help the boy turned the tip down saying that it was his duty as a scout to help others. He took my countryman to see his scoutmaster and my countryman was so impressed with the idea of scouting he brought it across the ocean to the United States. Of course now it's known of world wide, but it all started with Lord Robert Baden-Powell and a good deed done by a scout whose name is lost to history.
