A Conversation for The Long Weekend
the joys of bank holiday mondays

I don't know why we have all the bank holidays we do, and quite frankly, I don't care. I just love those bank holidays mondays! In the North East of England, I don't know about anywhere else in the UK, but in the NE bank holiday monday is a tremendous excuse to go out and get completely hammered in the bars! Starting at around lunchtime and continuing through until either the clubs shut or you pass out (whichever comes first) it is a wonderful day. I think it is odd, however, that it is the MONDAY and not the sunday that we all go out. You would think that everyone would go out on the sunday and then recover on the monday...but no. I wonder how many sick days are taken after a bank holiday?
