Trick or Treat
"Go on! Do it again, you scaredy cat!
Let's see you put your face in that!"
Friends gather round to watch and see.
Okay, yes, they're laughing at me!
Apples are bobbing on the water.
Mum is laughing at her daughter.
"Enough!" I cry, "for it's too wet.
No bobbing apples can I get!"
Others laugh and claim their glory.
Now it's time for the creepy story.
We squeal at the witches, pixies and elves.
Oh, how we manage to scare ourselves!
Donning our coats, we go into the street,
For now it is time for trick or treat.
Some have forgotten this important date.
Not others, as they padlock the gate!
At the end of the day is it adults who trick?
As children crawl to bed, feeling thoroughly sick!
