Good entry, but you didn't mention why they are called SKATEboards.
Being from sometime in the late century, I remember when they were made from skates. This usually involved knicking a pair from your best mates older sister and nailing the trucks (steel wheels and all) to a plank so you could roll around in circles and get high and silly from the vertigo.
