Oh.. and be careful of the airport. If you're going to Sydney, for example, be sure you know whether it's a straight flight or you're catching the leg of an international flight. You have to go to the right terminal.

Yep. The Airport at Auckland, New Zealand, is the same. It's a 20 minute shuttle ride from the international to the domestic terminal, and has caught out more than one unsuspecting traveller.
Incidentally, one of the best truisms I've ever heard was still from (then-) NZ Prime Minister, David Lange; that New Zealanders wanting to move to Australia should be encouraged because they would raise the average IQ of both countries...
