You made it absolutely interesting adn understandable, the two major criteria upon which I (for one) judge an entry! 
In the real world, unless I were the captain, I'd just let it be known that I would summarily vote 'no' on any distribution that left me with less than 15%, regardless of how it would effect me; and that the ship couldn't be sailed by just one man. Just perhaps, I'd worry someone enough to get some respect.
