When installing an x-ray tube with the tube turned 90 degrees to the wall stand, should the cathode end of the tube be pointed up for proper heel effect?

I think you're trying to say that you've got a tube parallel with the surface of the wall, with the anode at 45 degrees between the plane of the tube and the line leading between the anode and the wall. Other than that, I'm not sure why you might be installing an x-ray tube, or why pointing the tube upwards might aid the production of x-rays at the anode. Perhaps you could explain. smiley - smiley

What I am saying is you have your x-ray tbe and collimator pointed @ the wall stand tube would be tilted @ 90 degrees, withe the tube being vertical for proper heel affect I understand that the catode of the tube would be on the bottom.smiley - biggrin

Perhaps this is something I don't know enough about - what do you mean by proper heel effect, and what's the mechanism behind it being 'proper' with this particular setup? Do you just mean there's a particular way to set up a standard x-ray tube, or are you referring to some gravitational effect on the tube which determines which way round the tube should be?
