A Conversation for X-Ray Tube Basics

Post 1

I read in a physics book that you can prolong the life of an x-ray tube by first depressing the exposure switch and then the rotor switch. Why would you have to depress the rotor switch in this case as the exposure won`t take until the rotor is up to speed anyway. Can anyone explain this to me?
