just a side note here. My Ancestors according to family lore were given a keep and a family crest by King Canute. When Harold gave the call to arms, My Ancestor Harold Hubbell and his sons went to fight on behalf of the crown. Sometime during the fighting all but one male heir died. He returned to find that the keep had been burned during the family absence. The family never attained the prominence under William that it had under King Canute and in 1640 the line moved to Connecticut. Had Harold won the war I might be an Englishman. Instead I am an American.
