Krakatoa is NOT the largest eruption in recorded history; the Tambora eruption of 1815 was significantly greater. This is readily available information and does not reflect well on the BBC's quality of research.

Quite right, Rigel. There's always room for our Entries to be corrected. Entries are written by users and we endeavour to make sure that the information is as correct as possible, but we do rely on other members of the community pointing out occasional errors.
