A Little Help From Your ... "Voice Transformer"?

The BOSS (a division of Roland) "VT-1 Voice Transformer" might be of interest to voice actors:

I've had one for some time and found some uses for it. A nearby Nature Center had a Halloween night, mostly for kids and mostly outside after dark. We set up a speaker in a lighted plastic pumpkin, with the VT-1 and a "voice actor" hidden nearby. The reactions of some of the kids was priceless ... especially when one of their "friends" suggested some juicy romantic tidbits to the voice actor. Apparently a pre-teenage girl's worst nightmare is having a pumpkin ask about your boyfriend.
The presets include things like "Monster", "Duck", "Computer", "Robot", etc., but also "Detune", "+3rd", "Duet: High". BOSS put out a very funny demo video, ~5 minutes, but I don't know if its still around.
This is not the answer to instant voice acting success ... the pacing, accent, word choice, etc. are all probably more important. But it can help an individual create different voices without hiring actors. Maybe.

*chuckles* I guess it's handy from the point of view that it's portable. XD The nearest effect you could achieve in the audio editing software would be by using FFT Filters, Reverbs and etc.
