1. The engine was first tested and tentatively released in 1955. It was mainly used for industrial applications.
2. The 318LA is the now standard Dodge V-8, it has been that way since 1967. It is lighter and more efficient, which is why it is the current standard. The hemi is a different engine from the LA or the A. Its most common size was the HUGE 426. The poly is based on the hemi only that they used the idea of specially curved heads.
