The Marionette
The marionette puppet was slumping in a corner
When the marionette master entered.
What are you doing, lazy puppet?
Get up!
Get up!
There is an audience waiting for you!
Expectations!
Demands!
Responsibility!
The show must go on!
And the puppet performed.
It said 'Yes Sir!'
And 'No Sir!
And 'Of course, Sir!'
And bowed
And tried to be nice
And tried to 'socialize'
All day long.
And by the end of the day
The puppet felt all empty inside
Having given out more than it received
Ending up on minus.
And so it slumped down
In the same corner
Emotionally exhausted
Dreading tomorrow.
