The Singing Beach at Manchester-by-the-Sea in Massachusetts is worth a visit if you're in the Boston area - it's a perfect crescent of white sand (called the singing beach because of the strange barking noises which emit from the sand when you walk on it), with cliffs at either side. Unfortunately because the US doesn't have such a thing as coast paths, people own these cliffs and you can't walk on them. And the sea is FREEZING! But the town of Manchester also has a super second-hand book shop with absolutely everything you ever wanted in it.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
