A Conversation for Play Dough and How to Make It

I had a simpler recipe that only involved equal amounts of salt and flour, and enough water to get the right consistency.
Plus food coloring if colors are needed.

This makes it perfectly edible (though NOT good, really salty), wherease I am not sure about the tartar cream...
And "no oil" is nicer to the carpet...

In your recipe, what is the cooking for ? Does it change the texture ?

One drawback (as for the commercial Play-Doh thing) : in humid countries (it is sub-tropical here), the creations are very unstable and tend to suck in all the moist they can, ending up in a messy puddle if you leave them in the open...smiley - wah

The idea to use it to make candle molds is great, never thought of it !smiley - ok

Let's get 30 years back and enjoy !!!

Yes, I've tried the salt, flour and water thing, but that just makes a sort of air drying clay, and goes crumbly very quicker. This is much smoother. smiley - smiley

I think the cooking is simply to help in mixing it all together, and to make it smoother, it only takes a couple of minutes or so.

Not tested this version in sub tropical conditions, lack the climate smiley - laugh

Can't take credit for the candle molds, that was an idea that came out of peer review smiley - biggrin

Go back 30 years then no play dough for me smiley - laugh
