If I can make it interesting to someone who has never had the misfortune to go to Birmingham New Street then I know I must be doing something right

And just think soon you'll be visiting in real life.. though hopefully being stranded at Birmingham New Street won't be one of you experiences of England.

I'd prefer not to be actually stranded anyplace.
My new guide book came today. I hope it's better than the other one.

I'm actually looking forward to it. Birmingham is actually an important city. Isn't it the second largest city in England? Birthplace to the industrial revolution? OK, so it isn't a fancy tourist destination.....at least it'a a real city with restaurants and clubs and universities and museums. Compared to where I live, there are lots of things to do there.
It does have something in common with WC. Both are trying to recover from decades of industrial blight. You just have to do it on a larger scale. Then there were the pesky Germans trying to bomb you off the face of the map. In our case, it was lead and zinc mining.
Key: Complain about this post
