A Conversation for The Bus That Uncovered a Chalk Mine
Great Work!

To sound like Max Boyce, I Was There.... when the news broke I was sitting in the coffee bar at UEA putting off actual work (as you do)and then the whisper went round that something interesting at happened at the very other end of Earlham Road.
So being diligent students, we dropped pens/finished our coffee and set out to see for ourselves. By then the police were setting up barriers and the road had been sealed off. It was just by the synagogue, as I recall. I met a couple of people I knew who'd been in there and therefore nearer to Ground Zero. Danny M. said he and a prayer group just been in communication with the Almighty and there was this tremendous rumble and shaking of the ground and building - not a comforting thing to happen mid-prayer - so they'd gone outside to look. And there it was, a socking great Eastern Counties bus, rear-end-up out of a hole in the ground, with police and firemen swarming around, and an ambulance lurking hopefully in the background, just in case. I really wish I'd taken photos, but by then, quite a few hundred people had gathered to look, and the Norfolk constabulary were starting to make the sort of "move along, please" noises that precedes more active crowd clearance.
Somewhere I may still have that day's Eastern Evening News...
