A Conversation for The 1859 Raid on Harpers Ferry, Virginia, USA

I've visited Harper's Ferry many times over the course of my life as I live only about 90 minutes away. I've never quite understood the story of John Brown - sometimes it seemed like he was a good guy; sometimes a bad guy. Thank you for your simple explanation of the events surrounding his raid. You've helped add a new dimension to my experience of that beautiful town.
Random facts: From the point in front of the Hilltop House in Harper's Ferry you can see three states (Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia). It's also a good place to go tubing.

Thank *you* for taking the time to read the entry and comment on it. John Brown was pretty much a classic case of a person whose zealotry for a good cause led him to do evil in the cause of good, IMO.
No matter how good the cause, the phrase "by whatever means necessary" always makes me disinclined to trust whoever says it.
