Yes, Yogi Bear was named after Yogi Berra. Yogi Bear didn't debut until 1958, well into Yogi Berra's fame.

yeah. I'm writing an entry on Yogi Berra too incidentally, and not just his Yogi-isms
I believe he was loosely modelled after Berra too. I could be wrong

I think I know what you meant to say, but I think you might have just made a yogi-ism yourself. It seems to imply that Yogi Berra was modeled after Yogi Berra. It's deja vu all over again.
