What happend to The Albion? The start of the section on The Rose begins:
The Rose
It is time to leave the Albion ...
but there is no prior reference to said place.

Read again, it's here:
Ballards
From here take a very short stroll along the Promenade to the Royal Albion Hotel, owned by the Marchesi Family since 1978, although the building was built in 1760. Recently the bar has been extensively refurbished, the garden has been tidied and a large decking veranda added. The bar has been renamed Ballard's, after James Ballard, a 19th Century owner who is purported to have supplied Charles Dickens with 'delicious brews and ales'
So Albion is short for 'royal Albion Hotel', which is now called Ballard's
Great entry MMF, one day I'll check out all those pubs

Strangely enough, Ballards is the Bar/Pub, which is situated in The Royal Albion Hotel. To enter from The Charles Dickens, most people enter via the garden, and go up the steps, across the decked veranda and into the bar. However to get to the Rose, it is easier to exit via the Hotel entrance. Obviously I didn't explain it well.
B'Elana, if you, or anyone else wants an escorted tour of Broadstairs, I will be only too pleased to assist... I have some experience, but am only too pleased to improve it.
I shall probably be arranging another mini-Broadstairs Meet in September/October... if there is enough interest
*But I promise it won't clash with the German Meet, B'Elana*

I'm planning to be in Sheffield in October. If the other Sheffield researchers can stop laughing at me long enough to plan it,we might have a meet there.

Wow, an article on my favourite pub crawl. I couldn't believe it. Only issue is that while Wrotham the town in Kent is pronounced "Rootham", the Wrotham Arms and likewise Wrotham Road in Broadstairs is pronounced "Rothham" locally. Or after an argument in said pub over said pronunciations, it was renamed "The Dispute".
