Yay! The UK release date of the new Michael Moore movie 'Fahrenheit 9/11' has been confirmed as July 9. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/3815071.stm for details.

Have you got tickets then?

Ormondroyd Posted Jul 3, 2004
Not yet - the NMPFT website hasn't got showing times yet, and until that happens I don't think I'd be able to buy a ticket. But as you can see here - http://www.nmpft.org.uk/film/filmdetail.asp?ida=4713 - they have announced that it's definitely opening there on August 6.
I'll probably go on Saturday the 7th, and I will pre-book my ticket. I've only ever known the NMPFT sell out for one film before ('Touching The Void' ), but I think 'Fahrenheit' might pack the place.
I will also be checking to see if it gets into my local multiplexes. I don't expect that to happen but I think it is a possibility, considering that 'Fahrenheit' has gone to Number 1 in the American box-office charts.

You mean Wednesday 7th?

No, Saturday 7th August. It's coming to the NMPFT next month, not next week.

It's on preview at the Vue in Kirkstall road this week. And that's a multiplex (used to be the Warner Village), which is a good sign.

I was getting all excited and planning a trip to Kirkstall Road there for a moment. Then I went to the Vue website and saw that the only screenings are at 9:40pm, which would make getting home afterwards distinctly difficult.
Still, looking at the national listings, it seems to be getting previewed in a lot of multiplexes this week, so there must be every chance of it being all over the place after Friday. Maybe I won't have to wait until August to see it after all.

Oh, that is inconvenient . How long is the film? I've had a look at Ster Cinema's programme for next week and all they're committing themselves to at this time is Spiderman2. I'll keep checking.

The film is 110 minutes long, so you wouldn't be out of the cinema much before midnight.
But considering the number of places around the country that seem to be previewing 'Fahrenheit' this week, I am quite optimistic that it might come either to Bradford Cineworld or the Leeds/Bradford Odeon next week.

Aha! It's on at the Ster Cinema in the centre of Leeds next week and at very sensible times too .

Yay! Right, I'll definitely see it next week then. Is the Ster the one that's inside a shopping centre on The Headrow?

Yes, it's in the new Light shopping centre. I'm up for a Leeds mini-meet next week if you want to see the film with someone.

That sounds like a really good idea. It'd also enable me to give you the Team Ant sponsorship money in person, thus eliminating any worries about cheques going astray in the post. If you could get to one of the 18:10 screenings, that'd mean we'd be out in loads of time for me to get a train home.
The only snag is that I'm not yet sure what nights I'm going to be free next week, as I'm waiting for someone to get back to me about another social engagement. Wednesday or Thursday is likely to be the best night to go and see the film for me, and I should know for sure where I stand by the end of this week. I'll let you know on Friday at the latest.

This has the makings of a plan with merit . I have no firm plans for next week so I'm happy to fit in with you. Showings that start before 18:00 are a pound cheaper though .
The might be a better option than the train. The No. 72 stops practically outside the cinema whereas it's a bit of a hike from the station. The dayrider return from Bradford is just £2.70 - a bargain even for a Yorkshireman - and the buses run every half hour and the journey time is approximately 35 minutes.

Ah, but the off-peak return train fare is a mere £2.20, and I live right round the corner from Bradford Forster Square Station!
I'd forgotten that you were available during the day, and going to one of the cheap early screenings seems like a good idea as I could do that regardless of what I was up to later. Wednesday would still be good for me as I get paid that day, and I could then visit the splendid CD shops of Leeds before or after the movie.
How's about we go for the 12:50 screening on Wednesday? There is one at 15:30 too if you'd prefer that.

I've had a look in the 'Guardian' Northern edition, which has a lot in it about the film today. The listings show that 'Fahrenheit' is actually on in a lot of places next week, which is good to see. I look forward to seeing what all the fuss is about with you!
