"They featured in only four episodes"

That's a bit misleading- they only featured in four *stories*. They featured in about 24 *episodes*.

the issue of episodes is a very strange one for Doctor Who. sometimes people consider a whole story of Doctor Who to be an episode, although i think in the official sense the parts are episodes with the whole stories just being, well, stories.

No way is a whole story an episode. An episode is a 25min (ish) (usually) segment of the programme shown separately on different days. A story is just that, and made up of anything from 1 to 14 episodes.

actually an episode can be 22 1/2 mins, 45 mins and 90 mins, depending on season and story.smiley - smiley

Yes- hence the (ish) and (usually). The longest short episode length is 24 30 for ep three of Curse of Fenric, whilst the shortest is around the 19 mark for an Hartnell ep (I forget which)

Smij - Formerly Jimster

All of Meglos's episodes were very short. Around the 20 mins mark.

Oh, when I did the final edit on this, I changed this to avoid confusion.
