Snoopy flew with the RAF in 1966/7

I was an RAF student pilot undertaking basic flying training in 1966/7 at RAF Syerston (near Newark, Notts, UK). There were about 30 students on my course - mainly aged 19 to 25 and living in the single officers' accommodation. During this time, there were a number of strips published in the daily newspaper with Snoopy as the WW1 fighter pilot in combat with the Red Baron. Needless to say, Snoopy became our favourite.

We had our flying helmets decorated with pictures of Snoopy wih his flying kit and scarf trailing in the slipstream. When we flew, Snoopy flew with us. The newspaper that ran the strip at that time (my memory fails me here, was it the Daily Sketch??) published pictures of some of us kitted out ready to fly.
