Great entry, but what about the Charlie Brown science books? I had a bunch of them: One on Geology, one on plants and animals; they was da bomb.
Also, surely Snoopy pretended to be a WWI fighter ace, rather than a WWII pilot. Wasn't he always trying to shoot down the Red Baron?
