Absolutely right - and the first of Asimov's robot stories date back to the 1940s (not quite sure why '1975' is relevant).

I have to agree, Clarke said in the book Sentinel (Which he expanded the short story based upon the film and it's success) that he 'borrowed the 3 laws of robotics from Aasimov and based Hal's beghaviour around that
