One crucial piece of information that must be learnt by all neophyte Czech speakers....The first syllable in every word is always, ALWAYS stressed. PIvo, PRAha, ANo, VLTava....etc. Natives will genuinely not understand you if you fail to do this. This is no slur on the excellent Czechs...last time I was in Prague I heard an Italian giving a conference talk in English. He was practically incomprehensible, simply because he stressed his English words the Italian way.
