Today I've trawled through history for one of it's lesser known characters, who wasn't aware of the Ides of May. This day in 392 A.D. the 21 year-old emperor of Rome was found dead after 17 years as Augustus. Was it suicide or was it murder? A mystery still remains. These are his 45 words.

Flavius Valentinianus - Emperor Valeninianus II (371 - 392)

Named after emperor father by his second wife Justina.

Father killed; proclaimed Augustus at four. Half-brother was western Augustus.

His rule was influenced by the court especially mother.

Faced challenge from Magnus Maximus, held power by appointing him successor.

Fled when reneged but triumphed eventually.
