I am very interested in finding out more about this. I am told my mother had a serious illness when pregnant with me, which was originally diagnosed as polio, later it was discovered to be this. She was supposed to have an abortion, having been told the baby would not survive or be born muliply handicapped, but she went into a coma & my father refused to give permission; luckily for me!
Once diagnosed, she was treated & recovered, but since she died when I was 11 & no other family members are alive to talk, I would be interested to know more, particularly whether any effects may pass on to the unborn child!
(I was born in 1955 in UK)
