A Conversation for Anaemia

Chicken pox link?

Post 1

I wonder if there is any link between pernicious anaemia, aspirin and adult onset chicken pox. Chicken pox virus can react very badly to aspirin and in young people can actually cause death through Reye's Syndrome. This is why aspirin is not recommended for fevers in young people. Also, aspirin does do something to the lining of the stomach.

I suspect that this is how I picked up pernicious anaemia as an adult - aspirin and chicken pox (which is a retrovirus) caused a nasty reaction in the stomach to set up an autoimmune reponse.
