I'm always amazed when a passenger is trying to give me directions when i'm driving driving and points at a junction saying 'turn there'. Quite why they think I should have been looking intently at their gestures instead of the road I'm not sure! A little tip - a driver will be much happier if you say 'the 2nd junction' or 'the next turning on the left'. Maybe it's just a personal gripe but it sure does annoy me!

AMEN!
Or else "Where the bread van ahead is turning" or similar picture within the driver's direct line of sight.

Then there's those annoying passengers like me that get left and right mixed up, and will point one way while saying the other

I always have to re-check that aspect - I ask: "Do I turn to the driver's side or the passenger's side?" Invariably its the "other right" that is applicable. I have been given WRITTEN directions that tell you to turn left at a T-junction towards XYZ town. At the T-junction, that town is to the right. I usually presume you can get mixed up between left and right, but not the town - I have been proven wrong more than once!
