Another potentially useful site for anyone thinking about setting up a BUG is www.sustrans.org.uk While this organisation is aimed primarily at the leisure cyclist, with their use of disused railway trackbeds, fairly often villages, towns and cities are reasonably accessable without using roads. My only criticism of this organisation is that at times they seem to be over enthusiastic about taking over old trackbeds - Stratford on Avon to Honeybourne being an example - where there is a possibility of the line reopening in the future as a through route or as a tourist line operated by a preservation group,in this case, the Gloucester and Warwick railway group. This line was built as a double track layout throughout,so maybe there could be some sort of compromise reached if all interested parties sat down and talked about their respective plans.
