Diesels in low gear
bzooow Started conversation Oct 7, 2009
I think this was written before diesels were common.
Driving in a low gear at 4-5000 RPM is not advisable in many diesels as the "red line" for revs will be around this point and peak power is actually at around 2500-3500rpm.
Also push starting does not work well with most diesels as the compression ratio is too high to allow the wheels to turn the engine over easily at low speeds.

It was written in 2003, and certainly wasn't intended to refer to diesels.

re-push-starting diesels?
