Hi Ross,
I saw your (now old) posting on the Credit Union entry saying that you were trying to negotiate with your employers. How did you get on?
I've set up a couple of credit unions and advised on some others. I'd be really interested to hear how it went.
Cheers
Vestboy

hi there - sadly it sort of fell by the wayside.
Given various other things that are going on at work at the moment it might be an appropriate time to resurrect the idea.

Good luck, I've always been a member of one and I'm trying to get involved with the Board of Directors again as I have gone back to work for an old employer where I set one up.
Is there much interest in having one where you work?

Not really - it is an uphill struggle.
Having said that a number of people organise savings clubs/christmas clubs so there is a basic interest in some form of mutual saving/credit scheme.

Just to let you know be VERY careful with these clubs. They are illegal as the members have no safety at all and it is common for the person who runs them to:
A - invest everyone's money in a high interest account and keep the interest for themselves.
B - run off with the money the day before Christmas.
Some Credit Unions start out that way (as a group savings club without A or B happening) and move on from there.
Key: Complain about this post
