Join the Q: A Phrygian Cap

I first learned about the Phrygian Cap in school as I studied Roman History. Part of the course involved discussion of the various religions that were followed in the Roman Empire. As well as learning about the major deities, we also studied the cult centred on Mithras, who was known for wearing such headgear. Inspired by the Edited Entry on Tricoteuses I decided to have a go at knitting a Phrygian Cap myself. I used the Ravelry pattern by Alexandria Bee as a base to make a pattern for a larger cap (as hers turned out quite small and I have a big head) by merging it with a standard hat pattern.

The resulting product turned out not to be conical, but the asymmetric shape meant it was fairly easy to fold the point forward and tack it into position. Voila a reasonable-looking Phrygian Cap!
