I love the Olympics

It is really not that simple it cant be. After reading extensively about the original olympics there are some things that we need to do that would make them more like the original.
Stop awarding any medals below gold: The Greeks only had praise for the winners. They publicly embarrased the "losers" umercifully.
Make all the athletes participate in total nakedness. That is the meaning of Gymnastics anyway!
Instead of disqualifying the cheaters make them pay for a statue for the next olympics. The Greeks loved to cheat at the games.
Only allow the rich to join in the games. The Greeks only allowed the citizens to participate that left out all slaves or former slaves all women and even the poor who just could not afford to come.
Reduce the vast array of events, the Greeks just didn't have such things as synchronized swimming much less, the grandiose and over glorified opening ceremonies. They had a week long party with sacrifices to Zeuss who was the patron "God" of the games. (Over the years they did add some events so it isn't so much the total number of events as the dediation to Zeuss.)
These newfangled modern games just aren't the same as they used to be. This is more about the marketing of geegaws and air time instead of the true athletes anyway. There is rarely any athletes who remain in their respective countries anymore (how many train in the US and then return to their own country to bite their trainers in the backside!!) Let them train in their own countries!!
So yes let us celebrate the Olympics they 're great, (In an American sense anyway.)
Key: Complain about this post
